The Jeonju World Peace Dance Festival not only commemorates the Jeonju Gunpowder, a historically important event, through the festival, but also seeks to promote the value of world peace and cooperation.

The Jeonju Gunpowder was a treaty signed between the central government of Joseon and the Donghak Peasant Army in 1894, based on a promise to meet the conditions demanded by the government from the farmers during the Donghak Peasant Movement at the time. Through this treaty, the farmers fulfilled their promises related to the reform of the abolished government, which led to the Gabo Reform.
